I have really enjoyed creating things on 3D softwares as a hobby, but this is the first time I wasn’t just making something I thought might look cool or would help me improve. My dad asked me to create a design which we would send to a jewelry maker who would fashion it. I made with blender, because I had tried to make jewelry before with it and knew that it was much easier to create a nice looking render with the jewels and shininess of the gold. As for the actual design, I wanted to make something that looked cool and had meaning, so that she could show it off to all her friends and it would make an awesome gift.
Because this happened to be my parents 20th anniversary, I made two loops which when crossed, made two X’s (the roman numeral for 10) on the sides in gold which was the base idea of the ring. The outside loops are made of white gold so that the X’s of normal gold wouldn’t look out of place and seemed slightly nested. My mom doesn’t like very extravagant and complicated jewelry, so I made a point of avoiding the look with dozens of embedded diamonds. Instead, I wanted to keep it simple so I put two emeralds on either side of a diamond. The reason I did this is because mine and my sister’s birthstone is the emerald. My mom’s is a ruby, but that would look kind of gross, so I replaced it with a girl's best friend.
