I made this website for Ms. Bahrenburg, a former teacher at ACS, before she retired to her island home in Vermont and start her freelance proofreading business. She was the learning support teacher at ACS and her husband was my soccer coach for my junior year. This was the first time I had made a website for someone else and also the first time I had ever put anything online, so I was thrilled to have a chance to do it. I used the bootstrap css framework and customized everything so that the website gave visitors what she wanted them to see.
There was a challenge when the time came to actually make it live. Instead of just logging onto the backend panel from my computer and editing the code and the files on my own time, I would edit the code on my own computer, send the new file to her, download it onto her computer and then upload it from there. The reason I did this is because I wasn’t aware that you could create a developer account that I could log onto separately and I wanted to respect her privacy. Despite the painfully inefficient system, I enjoyed working with another person to create something from their own imagination. It gave me some insight into what it might be like to actually practice web design as a profession.
